Welcome back from Spring Break!!!
Let's Finish Strong And Keep Up Those A's and B's!!!!!!!!!
All students will read a library book for the book project due on Wed.-Thurs., May 10-11.
*****Book project presentations:
Please have a hard copy given to me before you present your project. YOU MUST HAVE THIS READY AT THE TIME OF YOUR PROJECT!
Be sure to introduce yourself and your book!
Copy the categories and then fill in with the appropriate information.
Make sure to give a summarizing conclusion---NO MORE "AND THAT'S IT" endings!!!
Hard Copy Format:
Name of book and author
Type of Medium and materials used (if any)
Parts of the story to be covered (setting, synopsis of plot, characterization, conflicts, symbols, theme)
Time for total completion of project
Parental involvement and what was involved (this is definitely ok)
Requirements:
*Book presentations-- 3 options for your medium: poster, 3-D, or You-Tube covering setting, plot, characterization, conflicts, symbols, and/or all of them. You may pick several of these, all of these, or just one making sure it is an in-depth exploration if just one.
And yes, parents may help you in any way!!! Since this has been assigned since the beginning of this quarter, I will anticipate some very good, time-involved, creative projects that show an in-depth analysis of your selected book. Your grade is based on the following:
25%: content (setting, summary of plot, characterization, symbols, conflicts, and theme----you may use a combination of any of these, all of these, or just one)!
25%: creativity---what is your medium? Remember, if you select a poster, you may not have small print (no copy and paste) and must be bold letters representing concepts. You may not use PowerPoint since I will not put your flash drive into my computer. The audience must be able to clearly read and see anything on your poster. If you select a 3-D project, it must represent a specific part of your book or an overview of your book. If you select YouTube, then bring in the URL address and I will pull it up on my screen.
25%: delivery---Speak clearly, project your voice, and have eye contact with me and the class. Dress up like one of your characters and use your terrific imaginations! This will represent most of your points. If you cannot dress up like one of your characters (boo......) then dress up in nice business attire.
Don't fidget, don't look down, stand still, and be pleasant as you give your book review. Make sure you speak up and project your voice.
25%: Overall presentation---Introduction, give your name, name of the book, author's name, and a very short synopsis of your book. Then explain how you did your project, about how long it took you, and if parents helped out---this is OK if they did!!!
You will prepare a hard copy with the above information on it for me that will become the grade sheet on which I will make comments and give back. The recommended time is at least one minute, average is about two, and try not to go over 3 minutes.
I look forward to some excellent projects, just like last quarter. Wow, they were good!!!
No projects will be given after Thursday, May 11, unless you were excused absence during the two days of the projects. ISS and OSS will not be accepted as an excused absence.
March 27-31:
Mon.: Planning Day for Teachers/Holiday for students

Dates of interest: *The field trip to see Anne Frank at MOSH in Jacksonville, FL, is Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.
*Book project presentations: Jan. 25 & 26 (and 27, if necessary)
Requirements:
*Book presentations-- 3 options for your medium: poster, 3-D, or You-Tube covering setting, plot, characterization, conflicts, symbols, and/or them. You may pick several of these, all of these, or just one making sure it is an in-depth exploration if just one. And
yes, parents may help you in any way!!! Since this has been assigned since the last week before the Christmas holidays, I will anticipate some very good, time-involved, creative projects that show an in-depth analysis of your selected book.
Dress well, don't fidget, stand still, and be pleasant as you give your book review.

***The focus for the literature readings for this week continue to be on author's purpose, point of view, key ideas and details as evidenced by the Common Core Standards for the State of Florida.
BOOK PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED IN CLASS MON.-TUES., NOV. 7-8.
Projects may be presented by (1) uploading your video of your presentation to YouTube, (2) creating a wonderfully colorful, neat, informative, bold poster, or (3) creating an imaginative project of your design.
The poster cannot have copy and paste on typing paper, cut out and glued. The poster may have pictures that you draw, and/or pictures from the Internet, or magazines. The drawings or pictures but directly relate to your theme, plot, setting, characterization or timeline of your book.
When videotaping yourself, you may NOT read your presentation. This project will cover any aspect of your book such as the setting, plot (including conflicts), characterization, timeline, and/or theme. You may integrate all aspects of your book analysis or you may select several or just cover one in-depth.
You must have your project to deliver on this date---Nov. 1. The project will probably take 2 days for presentation and I will randomly select students to present. Regular students will have a 10 point deduction for one day late and Advanced students will have a 20 point reduction for one day late. The projects will be based on 4 parts-- each worth 25% based on the following: creativity (uniqueness of your project and medium); knowledge of your book and your selection of the literature analysis (in other words---NOT READING YOUR PROJECT ON VIDEO OR ON THE POSTER); speaking well and management of time--2 minutes max and there will be a timer--(correct grammar and enunciation, smooth speaking, eye-contact with the class, ability to give your presentation and NOT read it); and overall presentation.
